We poured the following concrete slab for a business owner in Merritt Island, Florida.

Site Prep: Pouring a long-lasting, high-quality concrete slab in Merritt Island requires a measured approach. For a slab to maintain its integrity, it must be poured on level ground. The featured Merritt Island concrete slab project required hauling the existing grass and topsoil off-site to clear the space. After marking the area for the slab and removing the topsoil, we were then able to grade the area with our Skid-Steer. We also thoroughly compacted the subgrade so the concrete slab would not settle in the future.

Build the Form: Once the area was level, we built a form in which to pour the concrete. A good, straight form with appropriate bracing is necessary for a high-quality concrete slab. Poor bracing or an uneven form jeopardize the structure of the slab. For example, if a form isn’t braced properly on the sides, it may bend or buckle once the concrete is poured leading to curved sides on the concrete slab or concrete seeping out of the form.

Pour the Concrete: Once we determined that our form was straight, level, and properly braced, we poured 3000 psi concrete over residential fiber mesh. We then leveled the concrete slab itself before leaving it to dry.

Finishing: The following day, the forms were stripped and the control joints were saw-cut to prevent the concrete slab from randomly cracking.
